Vitrine was a two-year curatorial and research project developed by Parisa Tashakori and Majid Kashani, culminating in a major exhibition, book launch, and professional seminar at the Iranian Artists’ Forum (Khaneh Honarmandan) in Tehran in 2014. As the first comprehensive study of Iranian book cover design, the project documented and examined the evolution of the discipline from its origins to the contemporary era. Through extensive research, the team identified significant book cover designs produced across Iran over three decades and collaborated with leading designers Ghobad Shiva, Ebrahim Haghighi, and Saed Meshki to curate a selection of outstanding works by 100 Iranian designers.
The project resulted in the publication of Vitrine, a 432-page bilingual (Persian–English) volume produced by Mirdashti Publications in cooperation with Honar-e No Publishers. The book combines scholarly essays by prominent Iranian and international authors with a visual archive of selected book covers from 1978 to 2013. By bringing together historical research, critical writing, and curated design work, Vitrine established an important reference for the study and preservation of Iran’s graphic design heritage and book cover culture.
